More Printing!
I made many prints for this project, but my favourate print is the strawberry. Below this is the tape measure printed with masking tape lines addes to give it colour.
Printing
I made these prints within the first week of the Printing Modual we are currently doing. The shapes of the strawberries don't fully fit together which gives the print a bit of character. I have stitched into the bottom print.

Chairs
I screen printed the frame of these chairs. I then used long hand stitching to fill in the seat covers on the seat on the left. I couched these stitches down which has given the chairs vertical lines. I then scanned this chair into the computer and using photo shop, I reduced the size of the image then repeated and flipped it. I printed the design I made onto image transfer paper which meant I could then iron The image onto fabric. I then cut out the shape of the chair covers and ironed the pieces onto the backing fabric.
A2 Exam: Chairs
These three chairs are screen prints on differnt fabrics. I did this print in three layres starting with the frame of the chair and endiing with the flowers. The flowers were quite hard to do and the stencil broke pretty quickly.
A2 Fashion
I finally handed this garment in today! It is a male waistcoat which has various different types of fabric manipulation on it. It was very time consuming because of this! My favourite part is the section two up from the bottom, this is star gathering.
A2 work
This is now the work I have done this year. This is an origami boat that has been made out of a photograph of water. I then free machined and hand stitched into the boat.
Welly
I decorated this child’s welly for my AS textile Exam. The theme of which was 'Back Gardens'. I painted bond-a-web and ironed it onto fabric to give texture to the grass, pond and flowers. I then free machined over the flowers. Then I put a hessian trim round the edges of the boot.
Cells again!
This was one of the samples I did for my cell project. For this sample I used ordinary black cotton fabric which I then painted on with bleach. The bleach then took away the dye in the fabric leaving it white. I love the effect it gave.
Cells
My second AS project was all about cells. Again this piece is on organza with free machining, hand embroidery and sequins. I really like this piece and it looks nice on a window, when the light shines through it :)
Screen and Block Printing
These were my first experiments with screen and Block printing. I chose two simple flower shapes and used lots of different fabrics. The netting in the bottom right corner didn't really work!
Silk Paper
I really love making silk paper and included it in my A2 Project. I trapped some various fabrics and fibres in the silk paper before ironing it. I then embellished it with sequins and buttons. I also couched some wool on top to give the piece more texture.
Felting!
Here I was practicing dry and wet felting. I made vairious pieces of food out of the felt. I couldn't get the egg yolk to stay in shape so I stuffed some felt inside.
My AS Book
I have posted some of my favourite AS work on here before I go on to show what I am working on at the moment. This was the front cover of my book. It was inspired by a cushion I saw in John Lewis which featured this loopy weave. Each of the strips is decorated with one of the techuniques I learnt in the book. And the colour theme was pink!
Organza
This piece was inspired by the artist Kathleen Laurel Sage. I love her use of organza fabrics. Here I have trapped the organza in-between dissolvable fabric, then once I had stitched on the organza I washed this fabric away. I also used a soldering iron to seal the edges of the flower and melt some holes in it. I attached the two flowers together with some gold beads. I really like how it turned out!
